Responsibilities

This person will manage and lead current TUMI licensed business as well as take a leadership role in seeking out new product extension opportunities and assisting other business units with managing external partnerships.  Work closely with Design, Marketing, Sourcing and Product Management in support of sales via Tumi channels and with licensed partners to ensure their needs for the development of their businesses are met and are in alignment with the needs and vision of the TUMI brand.  Responsible for ensuring licensed businesses achieve company sales and profit objectives.

 

 

Partner with Design, Marketing, Sourcing, Product management and Licensees to ensure alignment on strategy, development and execution of new businesses.

  •  Handle day to day licensee relationships, communicates and ensure Licensees are meeting all contractual obligations
  • Work with legal department to negotiate contract terms with new licensees and renewals/terminations of current licensees
  • Identify new product categories and partners that have potential to enhance TUMI’s lifestyle appeal and that could meet financial and execution feasibility criteria
  • Work with Marketing, Product Management, Sourcing and Design to coordinate contract negotiations and product development efforts with existing TUMI external partners and potential partners
  • Manage Calendars – product development, marketing and market, payments and sales reports
  • Work with sourcing to ensure Salesman samples are available for all product review meetings and for Sales meetings
  • Develop new fixtures with TUMI store planning team and licensees as required to support business needs
  • Work with Corporate Merchandise planning to plan assortments by channel in order to optimize sales and productivity
  • Own product lifecycle management and seasonal product flow.  Ensure strategies are communicated to TUMI internal and external partners to allow smooth transitions in and out of product
  • Develop relevant training documents for distribution to store and sales teams
  • Analyze licensee sales (sell in as well as sell through) and inventory to provide detailed recaps to top management and ensure the business is being driven to its full potential
  • Review and analyze Royalty Reports for contract adherence, sales trends by style, appropriateness of doors, percentage sell through sold at off-price

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, confidence, and business professional skills are required, as are interpersonal effectiveness in creating and supporting teams, negotiating, selling ideas to others, resolving conflicts, and managing change effectively
  • Exceptional time management, organizational and planning skills are needed to prioritize and coordinate multiple projects and deadlines
  • Strategic/analytical thinker while tactically strong. (i.e. strikes the right balance of current vs. forward thinking)
  • Experience in externally facing roles (partnership generation/negotiation/management)
  • Strong vendor/customer working relationship management skills
  • Creativity, enthusiasm and passion
  • Exceptional multi-tasking capability
  • Able to challenge and bring new ideas and thinking to the business
  • Ability to adjust priorities and operate in a fast paced and fluid environment
  • Must be a self-starter who is comfortable with productive changes
  • Must have a clear vision of how to execute programs
  • Strong contract negotiation skills, working knowledge of contract law is a plus
  • In-depth knowledge of business controls (i.e., budgets, forecasting, co-op’s, and margin)
  • Superb presentation skills
  • Strong spreadsheet and computer skills, highly proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and ideally SAP (or comparable system)
  • Can work independently, but also an exceptional collaborative team player and partner
  • 5-7 years experience in a licensing or merchandising/product management position Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Fluent in English
  • Ability to travel
